Iles Molène and Ouessant
Both situated off the north-west coast, the islands of Molène (archipelago) and Ouessant are known for their natural beauty, spectacular maritime landscapes, golden sandy beaches and rocky cliffs. Breton food
The food you find in and around Brest makes the most of delicious local produce Look to the sea for fresh shellfish and fish for a mouth-watering meal. From the land, kig ha farz, a traditional dish made with pork, vegetables and buckwheat, will give you the energy you need after a busy day of sightseeing. And without forgetting the famous Breton crepe, either sweet or savoury, far breton (prune flan) and Breton cake, all washed down with local Breton cider, which has been brewed in the area for centuries.
Nature and sports
Other than the magnificent golden sandy beaches near Locmaria-Plouzené (including Trégana, Porz Milin and Portez), the North Finistère also offers a large network of walking trails such as the Sentier des Douaniers coastal path which offers panoramic views of the sea and the surrounding landscape. If you’re looking for nautical sports there’s so much to do including swimming, windsurfing, surfing, sailing, diving and deep-sea fishing. And of course, the area also boasts two highly reputed golf courses.
